Data engineer / Analytics engineer (Bangkok)

Brand New Day is strengthening its data foundation to better support Finance, Risk, and Regulatory Reporting. With a robust cloud data platform already in place, we’re looking for an experienced Analytics Engineer to accelerate the delivery of reliable, high-quality data products.

We are building a BCBS 239-compliant data warehouse that will serve as the single source of truth for regulatory reporting and risk management. If you enjoy translating complex regulatory definitions into clean, dependable data models and want to work on datasets that directly impact financial governance, this is your opportunity to make a measurable impact within our growing Data & AI team.

What will you do as an Analytics Engineer?

Do you get energy from turning complex regulatory definitions into clean, trusted datasets that stand up to audits and pressure from regulatory deadlines? Are you the kind of person who appreciates a well-structured data model, clear lineage, and tests that catch issues before Finance or Risk Management does?

Great! Come strengthen our regulatory and risk management data products as a mid-level Analytics Engineer. In this role, you’ll help build and maintain the data model for our regulatory reporting and risk management datasets. You’ll translate regulatory and risk definitions into robust DBT models on Azure Databricks, and make sure our gold datasets are consistent, well-documented, tested and audit-ready.

Your key activities and responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and maintain data models on Azure Databricks using dbt and SQL

  • Build high-quality regulatory and risk datasets in the gold layer, ensuring consistency, traceability and semantic clarity across all layers

  • Translate regulatory and risk definitions into clear, consistent data logic in close collaboration with engineers, analysts and product owners

  • Implement robust testing, documentation and validation practices to ensure data sets are reliable and audit-ready

  • Contribute to data modelling best practices, including improving reusable logic, preventing duplication and documentation

  • Be proactive in issue analysis and issue resolution in collaboration with stakeholders

  • Make data analyses, derive insights, and recommend actions to take

You’ll join our Data & AI team in Bangkok. We are a growing group of data engineers, analytics engineers and information analysts located in both Amsterdam and Bangkok who like to build valuable things, keep things practical, and help each other out.

What you’ll receive from us

  • A pleasant salary

  • A provident fund

  • Medical and life insurance

  • Fourteen days of paid leave, excluding Thai public holidays

  • Weekly lunch and sports

  • Room to develop yourself, including training budget and autonomy to improve how we work

  • A high-ownership role in a fintech, where banking and payments are mission-critical

  • Close collaboration with data, engineering and business teams across Bangkok and Amsterdam

  • A Bangkok-based role with structured travel to Amsterdam for alignment and team connection

  • Compensation and local benefits to be discussed

Who are you?

You are an engineer-minded data professional who likes precision and clarity. You’re comfortable owning a slice of the transformation layer end-to-end: from understanding the definition to shipping tested models and explaining outcomes to Finance/Risk. You bring a blend of analytical and technical problem-solving skills with a solid business sense.

Furthermore, you

  • are a strong analytical problem solver with high attention to detail

  • are a collaborative team player, comfortable working with business stakeholders

  • have a solid understanding of data warehousing concepts (bronze/silver/gold)

  • have experience building and testing structured data models

  • have experience building automated data quality tests

  • are comfortable working with structured financial and risk datasets

  • have strong SQL skills

  • are proficient in Git and disciplined version control practices

  • have experience working with a cloud data platform (Azure Databricks or comparable)

  • have experience building data models with dbt

  • are based in Bangkok or are willing to move there

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in financial, risk, and regulatory reporting in banking

  • Ability to deliver data requirements, ontologies and insights

  • Fluency in English

  • Experience in an international scale-up or fast-growing environment

We don’t expect you to tick every box. But if this feels like you, we’d love to meet you!

And one more thing: research shows that women and members of underrepresented groups often only apply if they meet 100% of the requirements. Does this sound familiar? If so, we encourage you to apply anyway. We look forward to meeting you. Check out our diversity policy here.

What happens next?

1
You go for it and apply for the job

Write a cover letter (yourself!) and upload it together with your CV. Let us know what we should pay attention to and, not unimportantly, why you want to work here. This may give you an edge, because at Brand New Day we value enthusiasm and ambition.

2
If you are suitable on paper

A substantive conversation with – if all goes well – your future team leader, manager or other colleague. You really don't need to memorise our annual reports or look up our CCO's favourite sweets. What you could do is take a look at our website and social media pages, or find out who you'll be talking to on LinkedIn.

3
Time to do an assignment

Which you can do from the comfort of your own home. No hours of work, we are mainly interested in how you get to a solution.

4
If you could be the best candidate

Another interview, usually with a future team member, to see if there is a good fit and discuss the result of your assignment. We prefer to conduct the interview at our office, because you should be able to inspect your new workplace.

5
If we both still say: yes!

Then let's proceed. We will get back to you shortly and finalise the contract. Even if it is not a suitable match, you will not have to wait until retirement for a response.
