Junior Information Security Analyst

Why Brand New Day ?

  • An informal organisation without politics or hierarchical nonsense
  • Easily accessible within walking distance of Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA station

Junior Information Security Analyst

Information security isn't just about technology. It's also about helping people make smart decisions every day. As a Junior Information Security Analyst, you'll help colleagues across Brand New Day work securely and confidently. You'll organise security awareness campaigns, review new suppliers and applications, and work with teams throughout the business to make security part of the way we work.

This is a junior role with plenty of room to learn. From day one, you'll contribute to meaningful projects while gradually taking ownership of your own responsibilities, supported by experienced colleagues in our Security team.

What will you do as a Junior Information Security Analyst?

No two days are quite the same. One day you might be preparing a phishing awareness campaign or creating communication materials for colleagues. The next, you'll help assess a new software supplier, support a security review for a cloud application or follow up on actions from a risk assessment.

You'll work closely with colleagues from IT Security, Risk, Privacy, Procurement and teams across Brand New Day. Together, you'll help make security practical, understandable and embedded in our everyday way of working. Rather than building security systems yourself, you'll help ensure security is considered whenever new tools, suppliers or processes are introduced.

Your key activities and responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and further develop our security awareness programme, creating engaging campaigns and communications that help colleagues make smarter security decisions.

  • Help colleagues understand information security in practice and support our network of Security Ambassadors throughout the organisation.

  • Help review new software, cloud services, suppliers and IT service providers to assess whether they meet our security requirements.

  • Support security and risk activities by documenting findings, tracking follow-up actions and helping improve the way we work.

  • Work with IT Security, Risk, Privacy, Procurement and Business teams to ensure security activities are coordinated and actions are completed.

You'll join a small, collaborative Security team where you'll quickly become involved in real projects and learn from experienced colleagues. Because Brand New Day is a relatively small organisation, you'll work with people across the business, see the impact of your work and have plenty of opportunities to develop yourself.

What you’ll receive from us

  • A pleasant salary between €3,000 and €3,500 and pension accrual on top

  • 25 vacation days + 1 extra day off for celebration!

  • The option to work from home two days per week and a week per year remote (two weeks for expats)

  • Training budget of €1,000 per year to stay up to date in your field

  • €25 per month benefit budget for 1,001 fun or useful things (via Alleo)

  • Every week a fully catered lunch at the company’s expense (On other days, you’ll need to arrange your own, but no worries: we’re right next to the Amsterdamse Poort, so you’ll have plenty of options.)

Who are you?
You are curious, communicative and eager to learn. You enjoy working with people, can explain complex topics in an understandable way and like bringing colleagues together around a common goal. You're proactive and organised. When you don't know something, you ask questions, follow up on actions and enjoy getting things done.

Furthermore:

  • You have a strong interest in cybersecurity and information security.

  • You have a general understanding of IT and technology concepts.

  • You communicate confidently with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

  • You are fluent in English (Dutch is a plus, but not required).

  • A degree in IT, cybersecurity, information management, risk management or a related field is a plus.

  • Experience with awareness initiatives, supplier assessments, risk management or security frameworks is a plus.

And one more thing: research shows that women and members of underrepresented groups only apply if they meet 100% of the requirements. Does this sound familiar? If so, we encourage you to apply anyway. We look forward to meeting you!

What happens next?

1
You go for it and apply for the job

Write a cover letter (yourself!) and upload it together with your CV. Let us know what we should pay attention to and, not unimportantly, why you want to work here. This may give you an edge, because at Brand New Day we value enthusiasm and ambition.

2
If you are suitable on paper

A substantive conversation with – if all goes well – your future team leader, manager or other colleague. You really don't need to memorise our annual reports or look up our CCO's favourite sweets. What you could do is take a look at our website and social media pages, or find out who you'll be talking to on LinkedIn.

3
Time to do an assignment

Which you can do from the comfort of your own home. No hours of work, we are mainly interested in how you get to a solution.

4
If you could be the best candidate

Another interview, usually with a future team member, to see if there is a good fit and discuss the result of your assignment. We prefer to conduct the interview at our office, because you should be able to inspect your new workplace.

5
If we both still say: yes!

Then let's proceed. We will get back to you shortly and finalise the contract. Even if it is not a suitable match, you will not have to wait until retirement for a response.
